Those aren't trucks, they're pickups.
Here's a proper vw truck. You're welcome.

That ain't no GOLF. That's a RABBIT!!! I know, my mom drove one when I was a kid, a diesel that looked just like that. I learned how to drive stick in it - as a passenger sitting in the front seat, she always let me shift. I was 8 or 9 when I started shifting...

My grandma did that with me when I was little in her 82 accord Sedan 5speed. That was so dangerous, But Im glad she did it

I don't think it was that dangerous! I only shifted wrong once or twice and we knew as soon as she started to let the clutch out, then put it back in right away. If I couldn't correct in time she took over and off we went.
When my kids are old enough to sit in the front seat, I'm game if they are.

I dunno, worst case scenario you hit the wrong gear, a mistake many have made while learning to shift. It was a Rabbit Diesel, so it's not like we ever went over 40 mph anyway... highway trips were downright frightening in that thing.

well there's where our experiences are different. My grandmas accord was great at highway speeds. She used to let me do it over 40 too. Now you see where I'm coming from?

Ah yes, the Accord with a 5 speed was a decent highway car. The Rabbit could certainly go over 40, it was just a scary ride on the highway so we didn't use it much for distance trips.
